On Wednesday the 4th of September, His Grace Bishop Siluan, together with the Sydney based clergy and faithful, gathered at Sydney airport to greet the Venerable Abbot Metodie of Hilandar monastery, who together with Hiermonk Simon and Deacon Nektarije, arrived in Sydney to participate in the coming jubilee celebrations.
The celebrations commemorating the 800th anniversary of the granting of autocephaly to the Serbian Orthodox Church and the 70th anniversary of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Australia begin this evening with a special commemorative presentation at the Pioneer Theatre in Castle Hill, beginning at 7.00pm. On Saturday, His Grace Bishop Siluan will be joined by Abbot Metodije, His Grace Bishop Longin of Chicago, Metropolitan Basilios of the Antiochian Church in Australia, Bishop Jakovos of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia and Serbian clergy from all over Australia. Liturgy begins a 9am at St.Sava College: 381 St.Andres Rd, VARROVILLE. Access form Campbelltown Rd. A family picnic day will follow. All people of good will are invited to attend.
